Doodyaar:
(informal, Indian slang)
A heartfelt and energetic greeting for a close friend; a mix of "Dude" (English) and "Yaar" (Hindi/Urdu), meaning "Hey buddy!" or "What’s up, friend?"
WE ELEVATE VOICES
Inspired by the spirit of Doodyaar, Shayon Maitra and Lindsey Brannon founded Doodyaar Productions to amplify untold stories, bridge cultures, and champion perspectives.
MEET THE TEAM

Shayon Maitra is an Indian queer filmmaker, whose work centers on identity, cultural tension, and queer resilience. Born in Kolkata, India and having lived around the world in Hong Kong, Dubai, Kuala Lumpur, London, Chicago, New York and Los Angeles, he brings a layered, transnational perspective to his storytelling. His films explore what it means to live in between cultures, expectations, and societal norms while maintaining a unique identity.
Shayon holds an MFA in filmmaking from Columbia University and works across narrative and documentary formats. His focus is on emotionally rich, character-driven stories with strong cultural roots. He has made documentaries for PBS and CNN and his short fiction films have played at festivals like Outfest LA, Newfest NY and Reeling Chicago.
-
Lindsey Brannon is a storyteller whose love for design and visual media blossomed during arts high school and deepened with annual visits to the Sundance Film Festival, where she was inspired by bold, thought-provoking narratives. After 15 successful years in finance and operations (including roles at J.P. Morgan and several startups), she pivoted to her true passion: storytelling. As a graduate of the University of Chicago, Lindsey brings both analytical rigor and creative vision to every project she leads.
She brings a unique blend of Line Producer, UPM, and Production Coordinator experience, and is available for both on-set and off-set needs across film and television productions. Lindsey has produced several short films in 2025 including Sandy, Fastbreak, and In the Light of Day. In 2024, she also served as Associate Producer and Production Coordinator on the indie feature 109 Billion Followers, directed by Ela Thier and starring Olivia Simmons, Jake Ryan, Tony-winner Nina Arianda, and Oscar-winner J.K. Simmons.
